Ryosuke still noticed the idea of her putting on a front, but it was fine. The whatever part washed over him, he didn't let it bug him. "Fair enough." he said simply....not sure what else to say. Things were a little awkward, and he was about to think it was time for him to leave. Still...he didn't want to leave on bad terms.

Midori's smiled shrank, and she pushed aside her own feelings for a minute. "Come on, you're a sweet boy, when you want to be. You're smart, sweet, handsome, and overall a wonderful guy." She said, "Any girl would be lucky to have you, Sakurada-kun. You've just got to find the right one." She told him, before blinking a few times. "My gosh... I sound like my mother." She looked to the side for a second, before shrugging that off.

The words were like punches to the gut, almost, unbidden. Ryosuke wished they had been, at least he'd have known what to do in return. For now he kinda stared for a moment, zoned out as he processed what she said...before finally taking a deep breath. "The right one." he agreed. "Maybe if things go wrong with the right one, it won't hurt as much. Those words are kind of you to say...and they're probably true and spot on....but I just wish I believed them myself."

Midori stayed quiet for a moment. "If she's the right one, things will always work out in the end." She said quietly. "I've had my heart broken enough times to know that whatever happens happens for a reason. I've learned from my mistakes, all of them, and know enough to say that." She paused for a minute, glancing down at her hands. "Everything works out in the end. Even if you find someone, and they end up not being it, in the end, you'll find them." She said, mostly thinking of her parents. In the end, her mum found her stepfather, and they were as in love as ever, which of course, had made her realize that.

Ryosuke sighed, the words hitting close to home again. "It sounds so simple....almost deceptively so." he admitted. "I guess I have a little experience with part of that already. I guess it will work out...some day."

Midori glanced across the kotatsu at him, smiling. "Come on, don't be a downer." She said, leaning across the small tap to poke his arm gently. "It will work out someday." She told him, "Be it six months from now, or six years from now. It will." She said, more or less leaving it at that.

That jolted him a little, the poke...but he nodded. "Alright....I'll believe in what you said." Ryosuke said, trying not to argue.

Midori frowned a little. She could tell he wasn't convinced, but, at this point, nothing she could say would change his mind, she knew that much. "Ah, well, whatever." She said, "Just... don't think too hard." She told him, with a little smile... Before sneezing again. Really, though, sometimes her sneezes were just awkwardly timed, she though, reaching for another tissue.

"Sorry for being a downer." He gave...in reply. "The burden on me is great...and I never had a normal childhood, or any real teaching in this kind of thing. It was always going on and on about training to fight. It's no excuse for my social awkwardness....I mean no harm, I'm just a little like a bull in a china shop..."

Midori smiled, "I know. I didn't exactly have a normal childhood either, just, in a different way." She said, "It's not you're fault. It wasn't like you asked for this. But, if you think about it, is there really anywhere else you'd rather be?" She asked. "Even after everything I've gone through, my parents divorce, living with horrible people, battling depression... I wouldn't be me if I hadn't. And you, mister, wouldn't be you if you weren't like this." Another sneeze, and a sniffle. "Don't be so hard on yourself."

Ryosuke sighed, leaning back on the floor and looking up at the ceiling. Damn. she was right.... "I guess the good and the bad do come together to make me who I am...I do better with the good, and try to improve on my faults...and I thank you for not having a chicken in here." he gave, rubbing the side of his head a little. "You're right."

Midori gave a little laugh at the comment about chicken. "I know~" She teased. "And you're welcome." She told him, giving a somewhat comforting smile - only somewhat because she was still sick and all, pale face, red cheeks, stuffed up nose. Not the most comforting thing in the world.

"Friends?" Ryosuke asked her. He'd have extended his hand...but he didn't want to get sick either.. Though the old superstition was that idiots didn't get colds...

Midori smiled, "Of course. I'd shake your hand, but, I don't want to get you sick." She told him. Nope, there was no way she was going to let anyone get sick, aside from herself. She was fine taking a sick day once in a while, where as Ryosuke might be needed, and if he got sick, he wouldn't be of much help, now would he?

"Well, rest well, Midori-chan." Ryosuke said with a smile. "I know there are others who would come wish you well, so I'll be on my way." he gave, leaving an opportunity for final comments.
